Hello Pretty is Winding Down

After more than ten fulfilling, magical years beginning in the good old days of 2012, Hello Pretty is retiring and heading off to the beach with a drink with a tiny umbrella.

Colour Palette- Blues

Navy, powder blue, periwinkle, baby blue and duck shell blue; there are so many different shades of blue. I think duck shell blue is my favourite, it literally goes with anything without being too overbearing. There are so many beautiful blue products on Hello Pretty and these are my favourite.

The twisted blue topaz ring from Secrets Unearthed, is beautiful. Who doesn’t like some statement jewellery?

This 60’s chair from Something Blue Living is great and a few of them around your dining room table will definitely add some character.

I love the blue glass seedbead necklace from Blossom Handmade, to add some colour to your outfit.

What’s not to love about the Rattan blue scatter cushion from Phlo Studio?

Something for the kids; Duke the Rhino from Sprouts Kids Co is just the best to cuddle with.

Colour Palette- Greens

The Bosco Verticale in Milan has inspired me to put together a colour palette of beautiful green products from Hello Pretty. A little green here and there can brighten up your home and wardrobe with ease. If you like to take risks go for something in lime green or a rich emerald, and if you like to stay on the safe side, go for something in mint or pale green.

I really like this green handstitched Lulu bag from Created in Eden. It’s not too risky but adds a bit of colour. The arrows green scatter cushion from Phlo Studio is great for some subtle colour too. For something a little brighter, they have this amazing lime green seedling sheen scatter cushion

The Green African Shield from African Swell Creations will brighten up your home; it can be used as table décor or put up on the wall. If you are feeling colourful, go for this green seedbead bracelet from Blossom Handmade, which will brighten up your outfit.

Err'body needs a colour thesaurus

I felt like I needed my Monday to start with a burst of colour. I mean, there are worse ways to start the week right?

So writer Ingrid Sundberg took it upon herself to help out anyone that was feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the fawns, oysters, cantaloupes and periwinkles of the colour world, by putting together a fun infographic showing them all off.

I’ve learned that we all have different associations with color words,” Sundberg told Bored Panda. “For example the color sapphire is a light blue to me (since that’s the color of the sapphire on my engagement ring), but a sapphire can also be a very dark blue. I doubt there can be an ‘official color guide,’ as color is so subjective.

There was no official color guide. This was something I made for myself based on color words I liked and the colors the words evoked for me.

Fun right? Now you go off and have a bright and colourful day.

Pantone Hair Rainbow

A Pantone Spectrum Of Celebrity Hair Color

So Pretties, I'll admit. My job is pretty image heavy. Which is awesome, since I basically get to look at and for pretty things all day every day, but it's very easy to get "image saturated."

However, much like last week's petal explosion, sometimes the interwebs throw out something so fun that I can't help grinning like a lunatic and spamming all of my contacts with it. (Watch yourself. I have an unlimited supply of cat pics, gifs and videos. You may want to think twice before adding me to your contact list, because I'm *that* person)

This Pantone colour wheel of celebrity hairstyle awesomeness was one such thing. I mean. It just makes me want to dunk my head into a vat of something pink and go buy Skittles in bulk afterwards.

You guys. Sony ads just get me.

Remember this incredible ad with all the bouncy balls and the frogs leaping from gutters and the feels it gave you?

They've done it again, but with flowers. Millions and millions of flowers.

From The Huffington Post:

"While the rain of petals over Costa Rica was all part of a shoot for a Sony advertising campaign, the beautiful display stood out in its own right for the explosion of color.

Organized by international advertising agency McCann, the idea was to cover the area near the Irazú Volcano -- located in central Costa Rica -- with a flower petal for every pixel in Sony's 4K Ultra HD TV.

With the help of local residents, the team collected the most vibrant and colorful flower petals they could find in the region. In all, it took them more than two weeks to pick the 3.5 tons of petals used to flood the streets with color, according to behind-the-scenes coverage posted by Sony UK.

McCann enlisted photographer Nick Meek to capture the colorful explosion."

The cynic in me can't help but wonder, much like with the bouncy ball ad, who the poor sod that had to clean all that up was. However, the child in me drowns out the voice of that cranky old codger and allows me to watch in wide eyed wonder at the spectacle that can only be described as epic. Watch the whole ad over here.

Life in Colour: Yellow

I’m a big National Geographic nerd. The photography offered up by National Geographic is in a league of its own and since I was really little I would devour any NG mag I came across.

I was browsing their site recently (as one does!) and found that they have colour photo series (serieses? I don’t know.) called Life in Colour.

Anyway - colour! Here’s Yellow. Click through to the site for the captions of the individual photographs and credits to the talented photographers

Enjoy!
