Hello Pretty is Winding Down

After more than ten fulfilling, magical years beginning in the good old days of 2012, Hello Pretty is retiring and heading off to the beach with a drink with a tiny umbrella.

The Interior Design Trend That Brings You Closer to Nature: Moss Wall Art

I like the idea of incorporating nature into interior design, and there is a new trend that goes beyond just putting a few pot plants in your home. Moss wall art has become a thing, not only does it look cool but it’s eco-friendly and brings you a bit closer to nature.

Joe Zazzera and Pat Mahan are the founders of Plant Solutions and Moss Wall Art. They are behind the new interior design trend; incorporating moss walls into your home or office space. Their moss walls are made with 100% real mosses, natural wood, lichens and other organic features.

Each piece that they do is unique and handcrafted just for you, not only are they for indoors but can be used as décor outside, in a covered area as well. I can just picture a patio with a moss wall art and water feature, where you can go and relax with a glass of wine after a long day.

While the moss wall can create a zen feel, having a living piece of art in your home is exciting and dramatic too and definitely a trend I’d like to see more of!

Would you install a moss wall into your home?

Colour Palette- Greens

The Bosco Verticale in Milan has inspired me to put together a colour palette of beautiful green products from Hello Pretty. A little green here and there can brighten up your home and wardrobe with ease. If you like to take risks go for something in lime green or a rich emerald, and if you like to stay on the safe side, go for something in mint or pale green.

I really like this green handstitched Lulu bag from Created in Eden. It’s not too risky but adds a bit of colour. The arrows green scatter cushion from Phlo Studio is great for some subtle colour too. For something a little brighter, they have this amazing lime green seedling sheen scatter cushion

The Green African Shield from African Swell Creations will brighten up your home; it can be used as table décor or put up on the wall. If you are feeling colourful, go for this green seedbead bracelet from Blossom Handmade, which will brighten up your outfit.

Décor Ideas: Succulents

Every now and again it’s time to update your décor at home; after all they do say that change is a good thing! But, this can get very expensive if you decide to do a complete overhaul. I think that changing or introducing one or two small things will do the trick.

Go green this year by bringing in small succulent plants in beautiful ceramic pots, I think these would look great on your kitchen windowsill. They will definitely brighten up you space, and what’s great is you can go for any size you like. Not only do they make great décor, but you are getting in touch with nature by bringing plants into your home.

There are so many different kinds of succulents you can choose from, some even have cute little flowers. Luckily, nurseries in South Africa usually have a wide range and they will be able to give you some good advice! Succulents don’t need much water and are hardy plants; therefore not much TLC is needed.

If you are looking for something a little different, Hobby sells these great hanging planters on Hello Pretty. Have a look at their shop here. Swagger Collective sells these amazing pots and planters over here

Grass Frame bicycles

With the cycling trend taking the world by storm, more and more beautiful, custom bicycles are popping up.  It’s really interesting to see how this phenomenon is changing how people view bicycles, and to see the different custom designs and ideas are reshaping something that was quite a lot more mundane not so long ago.

An example of that are these beautiful, environmentally friendly bamboo bicycles by Vancouver based Grass Frames.  Love.  Love love love.  Friends… fans… followers… my birthday is in October.  Just saying.
